Partner With yap films

Partnering with yap films for co-production offers financial advantages by leveraging the Canadian tax credit system, as well as fostering a collaborative relationship between organizations to create a project that benefits from the cooperation and shared creativity of everyone involved.

yap films specializes in what is known as a ‘Treaty Co-production’ – also known as a bi-lateral agreement – it is a partnership between two production partners that conforms to government-funded requirements in order to unlock additional benefits, accreditations, and tax credits from the countries of both producing partners. yap films is proud to have been involved in many treaty co-productions over the years, partnering with multiple countries around the world. Including the UK, Australia, Europe, Asia, Latin America, the United States and the first-ever treaty co-production agreement between Canada and Ukraine, as well as a new Canada-Singapore co-production treaty which will work to create 30 hours of factual content for international broadcasters by 2027.

Co-productions, through both official treaties and private non-treaty agreements, can trigger many benefits for both partners involved, including access to tax credit schemes, various levels of national and regional funding, national content status for broadcast, and access to additional skilled talent and labour pools. A project with a broadened scope can also pique the interest of institutional funders, sales agents and distributors in various ways. Benefits that can be accessed by a co-production partner can vary widely and depend on the funding and broadcast bodies that support co-production in those countries. yap films partners with American producers to collaboratively access the Canadian tax credit system.
